Commissions

I welcome enquiries with regard to commissions for stained glass pieces or windows. I do not, I am afraid, do commissions for paintings. I am happy to discuss what you want either by phone, e-mail or in person.

It helps if you have a clear idea of what you want and which of my pieces you particularly like and the colour palette you would like, so I can work a design. If you have a sketch or picture that you have in mind I am happy to have a look at that. Although in order for me to go ahead with a piece it has to fit with my style of work and therefore it is best if you can leave the final interpretation of the design to me.

If you want a window I will need to come and look at the location, take measurements and discuss the project with you. I will produce a coloured scale image of the piece; I use the computer in working up my designs. I will then send it to you for approval. I am prepared to make alterations to your design, but be aware that if there are too many it may well push the cost up.

I ask for a 10% fee for the design work before I go ahead with the piece, once I have worked out the final cost. This will be set against the final fee once the work has been completed.

Stages of Commissioning

1. Consultation and design
2. Scaled drawing
3. Cut the glass
4. Do any etching required
5. Paint any details onto the glass and fire in the kiln
6. Paint again and silver stain where required
7. Lead up, solder and cement.
8. Deliver the work
